Well, Songkran’s over for another year and it’s back to business as usual at PLS.
There’s no such thing as ‘business as usual’ in Patong though, there’s always something different happening and this week is no exception. Patong Beach is hosting the 19th annual Phuket Bike Week, the biggest motorcycle event in Asia.
If you head toward Loma Park (just a couple of minutes walk from the school), you’ll see rows of stalls and tents selling all sorts, from food to clothes and souvenirs. There are custom bikes and classic cars on display for enthusiasts, tattoo competitions, Thai rock concerts every night and of course the usual Miss Phuket Bike Week 2013 contest. The event wraps up on Sunday 21 April and you can see the full schedule on the event website.
When one event ends, another begins. The Phuket Pride Festival 2013 kicks off on Monday 22 April with an opening night street party on Soi Paradise at 10pm. Don’t miss the fun, flamboyant grand parade on Saturday 27 April, with its colourful floats and costumes. The festival runs until 28 April, with daily events and activities.
If you’re planning a holiday in Patong over this time, why not learn some Thai while you’re here? Our Foundation course starts every Monday and you’ll still have plenty of time to explore and enjoy the festivities. Sign up on our website or drop by the school for more information.
