No school can be great without a team of excellent teachers. Luckily for us (and you), PLS managed to snap up the best language teachers on the island. Khruu Paul is one of our English teachers – he splits his time between teaching private lessons and teaching our level 9 & 11(Elementary) ‘English for all’ group course. We figured it was time for him to share a little something about himself with all of you.
I’m from Montana, U.S.A
How long have you lived in Thailand?
I have lived here in Thailand for almost 7 months.
Why did you decide to teach English in Phuket?
I wanted to move to Thailand, but I wasn’t sure where in Thailand. After completing my TEFL training here, I decided to stay in Phuket and luckily for me this position opened up. I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else!
How would you describe your teaching style?
I like to create a relaxed class atmosphere where I can have fun with my students while they learn English.
Tell us a bit about yourself.
I’m a 24 year old American guy who quit his job to move to Thailand. My university degree is in Finance / Accounting, which I am happy to say I do not use anymore. I’m an easy going, down to earth guy, so come say “hello!” sometime.
How do you like to spend your holidays and days off?
I like relaxing and going to new places. I try to do something new each weekend like try a new food, see a new place, or do a new thing.
Can you speak Thai?
Nid noi! I can’t hold a conversation, but for the basics I do alright. Everyday I learn more and more from the Thai teachers here and from trying to practice outside the school. It helps to know a bit of Thai.
