Introduction

Established way back in 1983, PLS has gained a lot of experience in teaching English to Thais. We’ve learned what works and what doesn’t, and our many years of developing materials suited to Thai learners has culminated in our present system, made up of 3 steps.

Step 1 is our Reading English course for those who never studied English in school (or just need a refresher).

Step 2 is our Foundation course to cover all the basics and get students building their own statements, questions and answers.

Step 3 is our Easy-Going course that takes learners through every aspect of English, covering tenses, grammar and more, but always with the emphasis on speaking and comprehension.

จากการสะสมประสบการณ์สอนภาษาอังกฤษให้นักเรียนไทยตั้งแต่ปี 2526 ผ่านการคิด วิเคราะห์ ปรับปรุงและพัฒนาระบบการสอนและตำราเรียนมาโดยตลอด ทำให้เรารู้ว่าอะไรคือสิ่งสำคัญที่จะทำให้นักเรียนของเราประสบความสำเร็จในการเรียน และจนถึงวันนี้ เราได้แบ่งการเรียนออกเป็น 3 ขั้น

ขั้นที่ 1 คอร์สอ่านภาษาอังกฤษ สำหรับผู้ที่ไม่มีพื้นฐานเลยหรือผู้ที่มีพื้นฐานบ้างแต่ยังต้องการการทบทวน

ขั้นที่ 2 คอร์สพื้นฐานภาษาอังกฤษ ที่ครอบคลุมเนื้อหาพื้นฐานที่จำเป็น เน้นในผู้เรียนสามารถสร้างประโยค ตั้งคำถามและตอบคำถามได้

ขั้นที่ 3 คอร์สรอบรู้ภาษาอังกฤษ โดยจะเพิ่มเนื้อหาที่จำเป็นมากขึ้นในทุกเรื่องที่ผู้เรียนภาษาอังกฤษต้องรู้  เช่นการใช้ tenses ต่าง ๆ หลักไวยกรณ์ และอื่น ๆ อีกมาก แต่จะเน้นเรื่องการสนทนาและความเข้าใจเป็นสำคัญ

Reading English Course

The PLS Reading English course begins every other Monday throughout the year. Classes are 2 lessons per day starting at 2pm, Monday to Friday for two weeks, making 20 lessons in total.

We teach the alphabet phonetically to get students reading as quickly as possible, starting with easy-to-read 3-letter words and covering different beginning and ending sounds. We go on to cover short vowels, long vowels, multi-syllable words, combined consonant sounds, silent letters, basic punctuation, oddities and much more. The Reading English book also includes the 100 most common words, and the 500 words most used in conversation.

There is free access to online audio for the entire book, spoken by a native speaker, so students can benefit from studying at home after class.

We have a Writing English book optionally available for students who would like to practise and improve their writing skills.

This course costs 3,500 Baht plus 300 Baht for the course book. The Writing English book costs just 150 Baht extra.

Students completing this course can read English confidently and accurately, and are rewarded with a certificate of completion.

คอร์สอ่านภาษาอังกฤษ

คอร์สอ่านภาษาอังกฤษเริ่มเรียนได้วันจันทร์ทุก ๆ 2 สัปดาห์ตลอดทั้งปี เรียนวันละ 2 คาบ เวลา 14.00 น. ระยะเวลาเรียน 2 สัปดาห์ วันจันทร์ถึงวันศุกร์ รวม 20 คาบเรียน

เราเริ่มสอนตั้งแต่การออกเสียงตัวอักษรเพื่อให้นักเรียนอ่านได้เร็วที่สุด จากผสมคำ 3 ตัวอักษรที่อ่านง่าย ไปจนถึงเสียงเริ่มต้นและลงท้ายที่แตกต่างกัน สระเสียงสั้น สระเสียงยาว คำหลายพยางค์ เสียงของพยัญชนะหลายตัวผสมกัน ตัวอักษรที่ไม่ออกเสียง เครื่องหมายวรรคตอนพื้นฐาน คำที่เป็นข้อยกเว้นและอื่น ๆ อีกมาก แบบเรียนอ่านภาษาอังกฤษของเรา ยังได้เพิ่มคำที่พบบ่อยที่สุด 100 คำ และคำที่ใช้บ่อยที่สุดในการสนทนา 500 คำไว้ในเล่มอีกด้วย

นักเรียนสามารถล๊อกอินฟังไฟล์เสียงออนไลน์ได้ฟรี ตามแบบเรียนตลอดทั้งเล่มโดยเจ้าของภาษา ซึ่งจะเป็นประโยชน์อย่างยิ่งในการทบทวนบทเรียนด้วยตนเองที่บ้านหลังเลิกเรียน

เรายังมีแบบฝึกเขียนภาษาอังกฤษเป็นตัวเสริมสำหรับนักเรียนที่ต้องการฝึกฝนและพัฒนาทักษะการเขียน

English Foundation Course

The PLS English Foundation course runs concurrently with the Reading English courses, so also begins every other Monday throughout the year. Again, classes are 2 lessons per day starting at 2pm, Monday to Friday for two weeks, making 20 lessons in total.

This beginner-level course starts out with pronouns and verbs to get students making positive statements, then covers negatives and question forms. Very soon we introduce ‘here’ and ‘there’ and the conjunctions ‘and’ and ‘with’ to fill out sentences. After covering the question words ‘what’, ‘when’ and ‘where’, we learn ‘can’, ‘cannot’ and ‘can?’ questions.

Next up are the articles ‘a’, ‘an’ and ‘the’ followed by the ‘verb-to-be’. We then cover nouns and adjectives to describe them, then ‘this’ and ‘that’ and possessives, before moving on to plurals and ‘have’ and ‘has’.

A self-study section in the book covers days of the week, months of the year, counting, ordinal numbers, colours and telling the time.

There are both a study book and a workbook for this course. The workbook has exercises for all new materials covered in the study book.

As with the reading course, there is free online audio for the entire study book, spoken by a native speaker. There are online exercises too, and several quizzes so that students can test their progress.

The course costs 3,500 Baht and the study book and workbook cost another 300 Baht each. The total cost is 4,100 Baht.

Students completing this course can converse at a basic level in English and are rewarded with a certificate of completion.

คอร์สพื้นฐานภาษาอังกฤษ

คอร์สพื้นฐานภาษาอังกฤษจะเปิดเรียนพร้อมกันกับคอร์สอ่านภาษาอังกฤษ ซึ่งสามารถเริ่มเรียนได้วันจันทร์ทุก ๆ 2 สัปดาห์ตลอดทั้งปี เรียนวันละ 2 คาบ เวลา 14.00 น. ระยะเวลาเรียน 2 สัปดาห์ วันจันทร์ถึงวันศุกร์ รวม 20 คาบเรียน

คอร์สนี้เป็นคอร์สเรียนระดับเริ่มต้น ซึ่งจะเริ่มเรียนตั้งแต่คำสรรพนามและคำกริยาเพื่อให้นักเรียนสามารถสร้างประโยคบอกเล่า จากนั้นจะเป็นรูปแบบปฏิเสธและคำถาม ต่อด้วย ‘ที่นี่’ และ ‘ที่นั่น’ เรียนคำสันธาน ‘และ’ และ ‘กับ’ ที่ใช้ในการเชื่อมประโยค หลังจากนั้นจะครอบคลุมถึงคำถามว่า ‘อะไร’ ‘เมื่อไหร่’ และ ‘ที่ไหน’ ต่อมาเป็นเรื่อง ‘สามารถ’ ‘ไม่สามารถ’ และ ‘ทำได้ไหม’

บทต่อไปจะเรียนคำนำหน้า ‘a’, ‘an’ และ ‘the’ ตามด้วย ‘verb-to-be’ เรียนคำนามและคำคุณศัพท์ จากนั้นจะเป็น ‘นี่’ และ ‘นั่น’ และครอบคลุมไปถึงพหูพจน์ และการใช้ ‘have’ และ ‘has’

Easy-Going English Course

The PLS Easy-Going English course follows on from the Foundation Course. Students can join the course every other Monday throughout the year. Classes are 1 lesson per day starting at 4pm, Monday to Friday.

Easy-Going Levels 1 and 2 have four sections of 2 weeks each, so take 8 weeks to complete per level or 16 weeks in total. Each 2-week section has its own study book of 6 units, with exercises where appropriate.

Each level is a total of 40 lessons.

Each level costs 6,000 Baht for 8 weeks of study (or 1,900 Baht for 2 weeks). Study books cost an additional 300 Baht each.

คอร์สรอบรู้ภาษาอังกฤษ

คอร์สรอบรู้ภาษาอังกฤษเป็นคอร์สเรียนต่อจากคอร์สพื้นฐานภาษาอังกฤษ สามารถเริ่มเรียนได้วันจันทร์ทุก ๆ 2 สัปดาห์ เรียนวันจันทร์ถึงวันศุกร์ วันละ 1 คาบ เวลา 16.00 น.

คอร์สรอบรู้ภาษาอังกฤษระดับ 1 และระดับ 2 แต่ละระดับจะแบ่งเป็น 4 หมวด เรียนหมวดละละ 2 สัปดาห์ รวมระดับละ 8 สัปดาห์ แต่ละหมวดจะใช้แบบเรียน 1 เล่ม ซึ่งมี 6 บทเรียนพร้อมแบบฝึกหัด ระยะเวลาเรียนทั้งสองระดับคือ 16 สัปดาห์ (4 เดือน)
